我不是你的谁

影片是根据詹姆斯鲍德温的遗稿拍摄，里面的旁白就是手稿内容，里面用的大部分都是真实的影像照片，所以大部分是黑白照，甚至有的视频故意处理成黑白。
因为是直接按照手稿来拍摄，所以叙事上比较随意，大体上是写了三位黑人运动领袖好友的生平和死亡。
影片让观众重新审视了过去而且是延续至今的种族问题，我们会发现黑人要的不仅仅是选票，也不是看似公平的法规。他要求更加公正的待遇，要求整个社会能正式他们。希望当一个白人被偷时，不会被当做第一嫌疑人，希望在白人眼里，黑人不是忠诚而愚蠢的服务者

This is not the land of the free. It is only very unwillingly and sporadically the home of the brave.
Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.
History is not the past. It is the present. We carry our history with us. We are our history. If we pretend otherwise, we literally are criminals. I attest to this, the world is not white. It never was white. Cannot be white. White is a metaphor for power.

《我不是你的黑人》是根据作家詹姆斯·鲍德温生前未完成的回忆民权运动三杰梅德加·埃弗斯（Medgar Evers）、马尔科姆·X、马丁·路德·金的手稿《记得这座房子》（Remember This House）拍摄的纪录片。电影由鲍德温的叙述贯穿，用了大量纪录片资料、电影资料、图像资料，以伤痛的个人的声音，批评种族主义和美国文化。鲍德温说：“历史不是过去，它是现在。如果我们承担我们的历史，我们就是我们自己的历史。如果我们不这样做，我们实际上就是罪人。”他批评种族主义者因为他们的原罪感，他们的怯懦

影片中James Baldwin的两段话震撼人心，摘录如下。
When the Israelis pick up guns,’ ‘or the Poles or the Irish or any white man in the world says ‘Give me liberty or give me death,’ the entire white world applauds. When a black man says exactly the same thing, word for word, he is judged a criminal and treated like one and everything possible is done to make an example of this bad nigger so there won’t be any more like him.’
