新一季的The Newsroom以一個GENOA行動來開局，從已播放的第二集看來起碼是前半季的主題，這應該是取材於當年“死亡之谷“節目的事件，問題在於放到今日的反恐戰爭，這類行動中使用沙林毒氣的可能性有多大？
先扯遠一點從這個虛擬事件中的主角MARSOC說起，MARSOC一般認為是在2006年成立的美帝海軍陸戰隊特種作戰司令部的簡稱，編制下主力MSOR前身就是似乎不那麼“聞名”的USMC FORCE RECON，同編制下在役的還有一堆特戰單位，而劇中的製片和電話爆料的特戰人員都直接以MARSOC或MARSOCs代稱了，那究竟這是指那些部門的特戰人員？還是現實中已經形成了以MARSOCs代稱的習慣，這可能只能待行內人爆料了。
再說到的是沙林毒氣的問題。化學武器不同於一般的武備，存放使用條件較為嚴格，在阿富汗那種經常被人殺上門找茬的基地估計美軍不敢放，巴基斯坦這種隨時反水的國家老美估計也不放心。那靠近一點的就只剩下印度洋上的迪戈加西亞，或者是中東如沙特/巴林的基地等等，而在1997年《禁止化武公約》生效後

Took me 6 months to finish the 2nd season of The Newsroom, and see Will and Mac get back together. It's a fantastic ending, but I still don't get why it took Will so long to do it. Anyway, now I can't call which is my favorite between this and House of Cards. I'll live with that.
